This was a really quick listen for me. I never knew George R.R. Martin did children's books. It's kind of an odd concept, but not one I'm unhappy about.

This story followed Adara who was born to the cold. Instead of turning it away, instead of fearing the cold and ice like the others in her village, Adara embraced it with open arms. She loves the when her birthday roles around because that means winter is in fool blossom (if you'll pardon the phrasing). When her uncle comes, a dragon rider for the king, Adara is miserable. Him showing up means it's going to be warm for a while since his dragon cannot handle to cooler temperatures. Because she allows the cold to come in she's able to meet the Ice Dragon everyone is afraid of and befriend the creature.

The story was slightly predictable, but not in a bad way. For such a small amount of book it packed quite a punch as Martin is known for. I find it interesting that it's another story that focuses on the weather. I'm not sure if this book came before the Game of Thrones series, but maybe this book sparked that idea. Either way, I'm even more interested in reading more from him. Maybe the next adventure should be Game of Thrones.
